Tena
is the capital of Napo province which takes the name from
the amazonas river that was used by Orellana in one of
the most extraordinary explorer voyage.
Shower by Napo and Tena rivers, the city has a
colonial draft with small streets.
Tena has many naturals medicinal springs where you can
enjoy of the nature wonders and this beautiful city is
divided by Tena river that flow into Misahualli river.
Five hours southeast of Quito, Tena is the perfect launching
point for a jungle trek, a spelunking expedition, or a
rafting or kayaking trip down one of the countless rivers
that pass through or by the city.
From the Central Park of the city is easy to observ the
Sumaco, Reventador and Sangay volcanoes. They are the
most active volcanic chain of Ecuador.
There is a botanic garden in the middle of the city called
"Amazonic Park" that is perfect for echologists.
From here is possible to departure to many interesting places into the amazonic jungle.
Tena is the quintessential South American jungle town.
